Week 3 Notes, Homework and Videos

NOTE 1:  NOTES FROM PREVIOUS WEEKS REMAIN THE SAME, EXCEPT FOR THE COMMAND OR BEHAVIORAL EXERCISE (SIT ON THE DOG, LONG PLACE) THAT YOU MIGHT PRACTICE OUTSIDE.

NOTE 2:  WORK ON NOT REPEATING COMMANDS.  REMEMBER THAT IT IS (1) COMMAND (2) WAIT FOR 1 MISSISSIPPI (3) "NO" ABD (4) COLLAR CORRECTION IF NEEDED

Homework Schedule:

Calming Exercises (YOU CAN ROTATE THESE ON DIFFERENT DAYS LIKE MONDAY SIT ON THE DOG TUESDAY LONG PLACE):

  1. Sit on The Dog 30 + minutes Goal:  To get your dog to lay down on their own steam in five minutes or under.



  2. (CHANGED) Long Place 30 minutes Goal: To get your dog accustomed to staying on the place as their safe space.  Week 3 Change:  Drop the leash inside when you do these.

Obedience Exercises:
  1. (SAME) Sits with Interim Correction OR Sits with Just Collar Correction When Needed 10+ minutes.  Goal:  To get three sets of four in a row sits without needing to correct (verbal or collar) in 7 minutes or less..  Week 3:  Concentrate on not repeating the command OR correcting your dog with the command.  Remember it is (1) you stop (2) command (3) wait 1 Mississippi (4) Vebal "no" and (5) collar correction.

  2. (NEW) Recall or come repetitions 15 repetitions  Goal:  To get four in a row really clean ones without having to tug your dog.  Even better if you can get three sets of four in a row really clean ones.  Note:  Second video is me with another dog.

  3. (CHANGEDCircle Sit Stays 5+ minutes Goal:  To eventually get four in a row sit stays for 1 minute a piece.  Week 3 Change drop the leash when you do these.



  4. (SAME) Send to Place 7+ minutes  Goal:  To get your dog to step on themselves for times in a row for 3 sets.  Week 3 remains the same, but you should be able to get these done in about 7 minutes.  

  5. (CHANGED) Circle Place 7 minutes or less  Goal:  To be able to perform 4 circle places in a row for one minute.  Week 3 Changes:  Drop the leash, and you should be able to get these done (when doing 1 minute) in 5 minutes as a goal.
